Music Ministry

First Christian Church has a vibrant music program offering a variety of styles and opportunities for those who attend worship and for those interested in sharing their musical abilities.

We offer two worship services that differ in instrumentation and musical style. At our 9:00 am service, Living Water Praise Band leads the congregation in contemporary songs, spirituals, and gospel songs. At the 11:15am service the choir, accompanied by the organ and piano, leads congregational singing with traditional hymns as well as spirituals and contemporary selections.

Musical Opportunities at First Christian Church

Chancel Choir: The Chancel choir primarily provides leadership for our Sanctuary Service at 11:15 am. They sing in a variety of styles including classical, traditional hymns, southern gospel, spirituals, and newly written anthems. They also work diligently to prepare special presentations for Christmas and Easter. The Chancel Choir rehearses on Wednesday Evenings at 6:00 pm.

Living Water Praise Band:  This group of gifted musicians primarily provides music for our 9:00 am worship service. They play and sing everything from contemporary Christian hits to southern gospel, spirituals, and bluegrass. This group rehearses on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 pm.

The Bill Bagwell Bell Choir: The Bill Bagwell Bell Choir provides music throughout special seasons of the church year. They enhance hymn singing, play special music, and often provide music for the passing of communion or the collection of the offering. They primarily play at the 11:15 am service and when we have special one-service Sundays. The Bill Bagwell Bell Choir rehearses at 12:20 pm on Sundays following the 11:15 am service.

Youth Opportunities: Opportunities for solo, duet, and small ensemble singing can be made available for interested youth. Any young people interested in singing in church or participating in any of our music ministry programs should contact Beth Clark at beth@disciplesfirst.org

Our Organ

First Christian Church has a hybrid Allen organ in the sanctuary. This wonderful instrument consists of 11 ranks of pipes as well as many digital and sampled sounds that combine to make beautiful music to the glory of God. It is used each Sunday to accompany hymns and provide inspiring instrumental music at our 11:15 am Sanctuary Service.
