Community Garden

Mission Garden

Planting with Purpose. Growing in Faith. Sharing with Love.

The Mission Garden at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Washington, NC, is more than just a garden—it’s a ministry of care, connection, and creation. Located behind the Clyde Roberson Mission Building, this space grows fresh produce to be shared with church members and members of our greater community who need it.

Rooted in our identity as a Green Chalice Congregation, the Mission Garden is a reflection of our commitment to environmental stewardship and faithful sustainability. Volunteers from the church and beyond care for the garden, embracing the values of creation care and community nourishment.

In partnership with our Boy Scout troop, the garden has expanded to include a native and pollinator-friendly planting area, helping to restore local ecosystems and educate others about the importance of biodiversity.

The Mission Garden is growing to include  hosting opportunities for learning, including:

• Gardening and composting workshops

• Native planting education

• Hands-on service projects for all ages

We’re always looking for green thumbs, helping hands, and curious learners to join us. Whether you’re an experienced gardener or just want to help things grow, there’s a place for you in the Mission Garden.
